Dane Bloch

Dane was initiated, passed, and raised in early 2013 in Unity Lodge #130. Since then, he has progressed through the officer line and served as Worshipful Master of Unity Lodge #130 during the 2018-2019 Masonic year. He has served as Secretary of his Lodge for the last two years.
Currently, Dane sits on the Finance Committee of the Grand Lodge as well as the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Masonic Charities. He chairs the planning committee for the first annual South Dakota Masonic Classic, a golf tournament benefiting the South Dakota Masonic Charities. This tournament will take place in Pierre, SD on September 10, 2021.
In 2019, he served as the Senior Grand Deacon under Most Worshipful Brother Harold Ireland. Prior to this, he was appointed as Senior Grand Steward by Most Worshipful Brother DaNiel Wood.
He has been highly active in Masonry and the appendant bodies to which he belongs. He is a member of the York Rite Bodies of Sioux Falls (Sioux Falls #2 RAM, Alpha Council #1, and Cyrene Commandery #2). He also belongs to the Sioux Falls Valley of the Scottish Rite and the Knights of St. Andrew. He is a Noble of the El Riad Shrine and member of the El Riad Sprint Cars.
Dane has assisted the Grand Lodge Committee on Public Awareness in planning Masonic Days with the Sioux Falls Canaries. In addition, he has led opportunities for local Masons to volunteer through the Center for Active Generations in the Rake the Town community service project. Each fall, this program cleans and removes debris from yards of community members who are elderly or physically unable to do so. This past summer, Dane helped to organize the first annual Masonic Drive Thru, providing socially distanced meals to Brothers, their families, and members of the community during the pandemic. Proceeds from this event benefited local COVID relief funds. He is the current chair of Unity Lodge’s Scholarship Committee which provides up to $2,500 annually to scholars pursuing higher education across the state. Dane has a passion for Degree Work and has received his Senior Ritualist Award through the Grand Lodge. He has helped many Lodges across the state in conferring degrees.
He serves as the Treasurer for the Sioux Falls Masonic Building Association. In this role, he has reorganized the association’s financial and record keeping systems. This includes building new systems and procedures that have aided the association in revitalizing its financial state. The association is now in fiscally good condition and has created an endowment with a funding plan to assist in future growth and renovations.
He and his wife, Alanna, live in Sioux Falls with their one-year-old daughter Amelia, corgi Dakota, and cat Luna. He has a bachelor’s degree in Government from Augustana College (now Augustana University) and a Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management from Villanova University. He has earned his Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation as well as his Change Management Specialist (CMS) designation. He currently works as the Director of Development for Face It TOGETHER, a nonprofit organization that provides peer coaching in over 40 states for individuals in fighting the effects of addiction.
As part of his dedication and commitment to serving Lodges and raising leaders across the state, he wants to express his deep gratitude to the Brothers of Incense Lodge #2, Minnehaha Lodge #5, Huron Lodge #26, Pierre Lodge #27, Resurgam Lodge #31, Tin City Lodge #112, Unity Lodge #130, Sunrise Lodge #211, and Mt. Michael Arthur Lamb, Jr.

This Worshipful Brother has filled several Masonic offices in various Masonic organizations thus gaining the experience to eventually help lead his South Dakota Masonic Brothers.
Michael has served as Worshipful Master of Rapid City Lodge No. 25. He was Lodge Education Officer and was recognized by the Grand Lodge as Education Officer of the Year. He currently is serving a second term as Worshipful Master of the South Dakota Lodge of Research. Michael has served (not filled) his Lodge as Junior and Senior Steward, Junior and Senior Deacon, Junior and Senior Warden and Worshipful Master.
He is a Mentor to new Masons and has been appointed by Grand Masters to two Grand Lodge offices.
Michael’s Masonic membership has also included York Rite where he served as Illustrious Master of his Council; he received the Ish Sodi award in 2017 from the Most Illustrious Grand Master. Michael was recognized with the South Dakota Royal Arch Mason of the Year in 2018. Scottish Rite: this Brother directs the 4th Degree and personifies a major part in the 18th Degree. Naja Shriner: Michael has served in the Provost Unit and the Color Guard; a Charter Member of the “Hillbilly Unit.” Some days Michael rides his Harley. His Masonic endeavors with bikers include being the Charter President for the Mystic Brotherhood Widows Sons in Western South Dakota. He has been a member of biker Jurisprudence and the Grand Master’s Representative to The Widows’ Sons. Michael has served as Marshall in his Eastern Star Chapter.
We, the Brothers of Michael’s home Lodge believe the most compelling aspect of this Master Mason is his inner motivation and character. He begins responsibilities and tasks with total determination to successfully complete the objective. Michael is proud of his perfect attendance in his Lodge from the time he was first appointed an officer until his final meeting as Worshipful Master. He practices his belief of “the good in man” the opportunity to improve himself and others through mentoring, his personal caring for others and his ideas/visions to help others. He reimagined the Masonic Education in his Lodge with a focus upon Brothers. He just personifies the positive attributes of Masons. This man is your Brother...forever.
